Bandipora, March 26 (KNO) : A youth summit organized by Army had to face a hasty retreat at Degree College Bandipora In North Kashmir after pro freedom protests erupted during programme. Eyewitness said that scores of students of Degree college Bandipora assembled inside the college premises before the start of the programme and staged a protest demonstration against programme.

They told KNO correspondents that as soon as the program started, the students chanted slogans against organizers of event. Pro-freedom and pro-Zakir Musa slogans were also heard at the scene that created chaos all around that forced organizers to conclude the program. The indignant students claimed that the event is Army- sponsored and funded by agencies to lure students. They claimed such programs are meant to deflect the attention of people from ‘horrifying situation' prevalent in the valley.

The students further said; if any such attempt of organizing agency-sponsored functions were made at the said venue in future that would be met with strong reaction. Students while talking to KNO said that their valuable time is being wasted from these programmes, adding that they are not interested in these army sponsored programmes, saying such programs have lost valuable time for students in their college.

Speaking to KNO, Principal Government Degree College Bandipora Ghulam Mustafa refuted the reports of thrashing college students, terming it as ‘concocted'. He said that Army did not thrash anyone here during the protests, adding that class work was resumed after Army left the college.(KNO)
